Halloween

November 3rd, 2008

Lane was a little chick for Halloween.  Here are some pictures of her, donning her costume, and her friends.  We had such a good time… she is a great sport to indulge us!

9 Months Already??

September 29th, 2008

Yes, our little baby is 9 months and not so little anymore.  I have started rocking her to sleep because I am getting nostalgic and wanting time to stop or at least slow down.  Every day, Lane does something new.  I don’t remember the stages flying this fast with Will.  I guess it’s because I ‘oohed and aahed’ over every little thing, took a million pictures each day, and didn’t have much else to do other than stare.  Lane’s 9 month appointment went well.  She is still in 75th-90th percentile for both height and weight–perfect according to the doctor (I’m convinced he says that to everyone but it’s still good to hear).  She eats real food, she has to be just like her brother…none of this Gerber mess.  She pulls up on everything and is just before starting to “cruise”.  She has the best sense of humor, laughs at her brother’s jokes (which really are funny) and has a fun-loving spirit.  We are so blessed by our children…what an awesome gift!  (Disclaimer: they are fast asleep as I am writing this!  Just kidding!) Here are some sweet end of summer pictures..enjoy!

On the Move…

September 4th, 2008

Lane is officially a crawler.  She is no longer content to sit and play with toys while I eat bon bons and watch soap operas.  Bummer!  Here is a picture from a week ago….

Ready….

Set….Go!

I did it!!!!

Summer!

August 16th, 2008

I have been on hiatus from updating this blog; there’s just too much going on! With a new part-time job, two FULL TIME kiddos and this time suck called ‘facebook’, a spare moment is hard to come by. But alas, here I am to report on little Lane. I swear she is the happiest baby ever. Granted I don’t have much to compare her to (her brother was a good baby too) but she is really easy going, especially if she is with her mother (I have that effect on most people…ha!). She will go anywhere with her brother and forgo naps just to keep up/put up with us. Camp was great. She went everywhere in the baby bjorn and sling (some people didn’t catch a glimpse of her until we had been there for 2 weeks). She slept through the noisy bugles, waited patiently at meals, watched her brother partake in all the activities, and just tracked along with us with smiles. Sleeping was another story at camp but you can’t win them all. And I am happy to report that we have made HUGE strides in that department since returning home. After a mini-counseling session from a great friend who was friend enough to say “enough is enough”, Lane cried for 16 minutes one night and that’s all she wrote. Lane is now sleeping from 11:30 - 7. Not quite the 12 hours we were hoping for but MUCH better! And last week her 2 bottom teeth came through and she started getting up on all fours and rocking. Huge milestones in her short, little life. I am trying to downplay the crawling thing as her immobility is pretty nice right now. Enjoy the pictures of our sweet daughter at 7 months!

The Beach and 6 month appointment

July 3rd, 2008

Lane was such a trooper at the beach! She didn’t get to stay out in the sun for too long but loved getting in the pool, playing with her cousin Jack, and mainly just tagging along with her nonstop brother. She also hit the 6-month mark (crazy huh?) and weighed 18.2 pounds and was 27 inches…maintaining that 90% status…way to go, Lane! And of course she had to have a visit from her friend Wells. Here are some pictures from our vacation…enjoy! We’re off to camp on Saturday and I am sure we will have many adventures to report. Have a great July!

Feed me!

May 29th, 2008

Lane had her first taste of the good stuff…  Well, not exactly “the good stuff” but it’s a start.  She worked her way, slowly but surely, through a bowl of rice cereal.  Lo and behold, the mush stuck to her ribs and we got the best night of sleep we’d had in weeks.  History didn’t repeat itself last night so we aren’t getting our hopes up.  It’s fun to think of all the tastes and flavors Lane will explore in the coming months.  And that this is the first of MANY meals for the rest of her life.

Mother-Daughter Trip

May 19th, 2008

Lane and I embarked on our first mother-daughter trip this past weekend. We went to Atlanta by car…. Some of the highlights included:

  • Seeing Kimbrell and her family and witnessing little Wells’s special baptism.

  •  Staying with our friends Tim and Stephanie and getting to spend time with their daughter Caroline.

  • Meeting Ben and Audrey for brunch and having a mini-training session for my new part-time job (btw, the Habecks are really slumming it up in Suwanee.)

  • Meeting Ben Elliot, Lane’s future husband, for the first time (I approve… check out his ipod t-shirt…yes, he’s that cool!)

  • Seeing one-day old, Savannah “Kate” Hogan in the hospital.

There were several times I was laughing in my head like when I stopped at a rest area and had to take Lane into the bathroom stall with me. With the stall door still closed, I flushed the toilet and it sprayed all over her and the carrier. Here’s another one… Fulfilling my husband’s Sweetwater 420 request, I took Lane into the “Package Store” and set her on the counter while I went and purchased 2 cases of beer. I am sure the other customers are still wondering about little Lane’s future…

Lane went with me everywhere and was a trooper through all of it. When I told her I wanted to go to Buckhead Church on the way out of town to see Andy preach live, she was OVER it. We had to forgo that and head back South…too much stimulation in the big city. We had a blast together and it was great to catch up with so many old friends…we miss you guys and your children are beautiful!

Swing!

May 14th, 2008

My mom’s arms were growing tired holding me today while my brother was playing outside. So Genius decided to put me in the swing. It was about time! I knew I’d love it! And here’s a picture from this morning’s tummy time session (my brother likes to do it with me)…. Is it weird that I love to flail on my stomach and then do push ups with my arms?

Rolling Over: A Step-by-Step Guide

May 7th, 2008

Lane wanted to surprise me on my birthday and when we weren’t looking, she had rolled over. It took us awhile to notice so she probably had some serious tummy time before we realized it. She is going to have killer abs! Anyway, here is the second roll-over of her life. A step-by-step guide…

Our little buddha

May 2nd, 2008

Lane is growing like a weed. She had her 4 month check up yesterday and weighed 15 pounds, 12 ounces (95%) and was 26 inches long (90%). WOW! The stats confirmed that she is getting plenty eat, which I was needlessly concerned about. She is such a sweet baby!
